PhD position: Organic Thin-Film Transistors 1723 views

The Minerva Fast Track group led by Dr. Ulrike Kraft in the Department of Molecular Electronics at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz is looking for a highly motivated and curiosity-driven PhD student with interest in the chemistry and physics of organic electronic materials and devices.

About the position:
  • The selected candidate will conduct cutting edge research at the interface of physics, chemistry, and materials science. As part of the Department of Molecular Electronics led by Prof. Paul Blom, the successful candidate will benefit from a stimulating research environment in a diverse and interdisciplinary team with access to state-of-the–art facilities.
  • The starting date of the position is flexible within autumn/winter 2020.
  • PhD training will involve device fabrication (organic thin films transistors), surface engineering (e.g. modification of inorganic interfaces with self-assembled monolayers of organic molecules), morphological, chemical, electrical and optical characterization of thin-films and devices as well as the presentation of your research in meetings/conferences and the publication of your results in peer reviewed journals.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a highly motivated student with experimental background and a Master’s degree (or equivalent) either in Physics, Materials Science, and Chemistry, Polymer Science or related fields.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
  • Previous experience with organic electronic materials, device fabrication and characterization is an advantage.

How to apply
