PhD Position: Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science

PhD Position in the field of convergent beam electron diffraction (Matter and Materials, Energy and Environment and Human Health) at the Paul Scherrer Institut, Switzerland.

Tasks Involved– participating in developing new method of convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) for high-resolution imaging.

The project will include three subprojects:

1. Theoretical and numerical modeling of CBED experiment.
2. CBED experiments using different samples under different experimental conditions
3. Data analysis with structure recovery.

Qualifications / Requirements

1. Master’s degree in physics, chemistry or materials science.
2. Greatly interested in theoretical, numerical and experimental research.
3. Good Spoken and written English
4. Programming skills for numerical simulation and data analysis (preferable)
5. Experimental experience in electron microscopy and light optical imaging (preferable)
