Description
- Exploring various new concepts in catalysis
- Investigate catalytic processes in complex systems, aiming at emerging properties of the system, control over the catalytic process by inclusion of switchable catalysts
- Performing cascade reactions that cannot be carried out in sequential single step reactions.
- Explore new catalytic concepts on the borders with biology.
- Perform catalytic reaction in living cells, aiming at new products by synergy between Cells and artificial systems.
Requirements / qualifications:
- Candidates preferable have a background in synthesis and catalysis, with affinity for biology and/or physical chemical methods (e.g. NMR, ITC, UV-Vis, Fluorescence, GC, HPLC, kinetics) to evaluate the properties of novel catalyst systems.
- degree in chemistry with a substantial organic chemistry component is required.
- Applicants with experience/affinity in coordination chemistry and biochemistry have a clear advantage.
- The ability to collaborate and adapt in an international team is required
- Must possess good communication skills in oral and written English.
- Due to limitations in recruitment budget we will preferably consider candidates that are currently in Europe.

Positions are available starting from 1 March 2017, and we will recruit until all positions have been filled.
Duration: Maximum period of four years (18 months plus a further 30 months after a positive evaluation) and should lead to a dissertation (PhD thesis).
Fellowship: The gross monthly salary will range from €2,191 in the first year to €2,801 in the final year.
