The Department of Physical Biochemistry at Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry (Prof. Marina V. Rodnina) invites applications for a position as PhD Student (f/m/d) – Fidelity of protein synthesis in vivo.
About the project:
- The aim of the project is to investigate the relationship between the accuracy of protein synthesis and the fitness of cells in different biological systems (antibiotics in bacteria, genetic diseases or cell aging; our latest publication in this field: PMID 33758186).
- In collaboration with the lab of Henning Urlaub we will apply different mass spectrometric approaches (DDA, DIA and targeted MS).
- The successful candidate for the position has a keen interest in quantitative mass spectrometry & biochemistry, strong skills in bioinformatics/computational biology and a strong interest in interdisciplinary research.
Requirements:
- PhD candidates hold (or expect to complete soon) a Masters or equivalent degree in a related field.
- The group language is English, so no German language skills are required
Applications:
Application to be sent via email to ausschreibung12-21@mpibpc.mpg.de including cover letter (explain background and motivation), CV, transcripts.
