Overview

The Enzymology and Metabolism Research Group (LCSB) and IBBL are looking to hire a PhD student as part of the PARK-QC DTU, an interdisciplinary doctoral training unit focusing on ‘Molecular, Organellar and Cellular Quality Control in Parkinson’s disease and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases’ and involving several Luxembourgish biomedical research units.

Project:Search for novel PD biomarkers originating from increased molecular damage and/or deficient molecular quality control systems’, the successful PhD candidate will (establish and) analyse cellular and whole organism models of Parkinson’s disease, as well as PD patient-derived material (e.g. plasma, urine, CSF), applying Crispr/Cas9 technology, imaging-based phenotypic approaches and metabolomics techniques.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. Master degree in Biochemistry, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or any related discipline.
  2. Strong background in metabolic biochemistry and molecular/cellular biology, as well as good notions in bioinformatics.
  3. Previous experience with handling model organisms, mammalian cell culture, mass spectrometry and imaging techniques will be considered as important asset(s).
  4. Excellent English writing and speaking skills are essential
