The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, the Department of Computational Molecular Biology and the research group of Dr. Sarah Kinkley has an open position for a PhD student (m/f/d) in Chromatin Structure and Function (E13/2 TVöD) Code: 19-20.

About the position:
  • Position is open to highly motivated and enthusiastic young researcher to study the mechanisms and incidence of R-loop formation in response to aberrant oncogene and tumor suppressor expression.
  • The experimental approach will combine high-throughput data, such as siRNA and CRISPRa epigenome screens, with DRIPc-seq and/or R-ChIP-seq in the validation phase.
  • Selected candidate will then be further evaluated for their ability to promote oncogenic transformation using a variety of molecular and cell biological approaches.
  • Duration of appointment will be for 3 years with the possibility of extension.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must an experimental background in molecular biology and/or epigenetics and/or RNA biology
  • Applicant must hold a Master’s degree or a similar qualification in Biology, Biochemistry or related fields.
  • Previous experience with CRISPR, CRISPRa and knowledge of computational biology is an advantage.
