Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems invites applications for PhD and Postdoc positions in Computational Biology and Metabolic Engineering.
Several PhD and postdoctoral positions are available in Steffen Klamt’s group. The group develops and applies algorithms and computational techniques for mathematical modeling and targeted modification of biological networks.
Requirements:
Applicants must have an excellent degree or/and experience in one or several of the following fields:
- Systems biology
- Synthetic biology
- (Bio)chemical engineering
- Biotechnology
- Metabolic engineering
- Microbiology
- Genetics
- Computational biology
- Bioinformatics
- Computer science
- Mathematics
- Physics
Applicants having experience in the following areas will have advantage: experimental systems biology, bioreactor fermentations and genetic engineering of Escherichia coli or other microorganisms; mathematical modeling of metabolic networks, computational strain design and model-based metabolic engineering; theory and algorithms of mathematical optimization (in particular, linear and mixed-integer linear programming) programming in MATLAB (and JAVA)
