The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) is offering a postdoctoral position to highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment. The position is available in 2-D Quantum Materials.
About the position:
- The successful candidate will be carrying out a collaborative project in the Low Dimensional Quantum Materials Group (LDQM – Prof. Dmitri Efetov) in the framework of the recently awarded EU Quantum Technologies Flagship.
- The aim of this position is to engineer strong quantum effects in novel 2D materials and their hetero-structures and use these for quantum sensing applications.
- This also involves the study of superconductivity in magic angle twisted bilayer graphene, in which our group holds a leading position in Europe.
- The candidate will play a key role in the whole research effort of the group and will closely collaborate with leading experimental and theoretical groups in this field.
Requirements:
- Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized PhD equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering or closely related disciplines.
- Strong experience in fabrication of 2D materials and hetero-structures thereof.
- Experience in the fields of superconductivity, low temperature transport, opto-electronics, RF circuits can be an advantage.
- Experience in single photon detection is a strong plus.
Duration: The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to 5 years.
Applications:
Apply online and include the following:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interest,
- Curriculum Vitae, including contact details,
- Contact e-mail of two potential referees.
