Postdoc position: ATLAS Muon Spectrometer Group 961 views

The Max-Planck Institute for Physics invites applications for Postdoctoral Position within the ATLAS Group. One main research activity of the group is the participation in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.

Study areas: Experimental Particle Physics

About the ATLAS Group:

  • The group has contributed decisively to the design and construction of the ATLAS muon spec-trometer and is leading the upgrades of the ATLAS muon detector in the current LHC shut-down and for High-Luminosity LHC.
  • The group is developing the new front-end and trigger electronics for the ATLAS muon drift-tube (MDT) chambers and is preparing for the construction of new small-diameter MDT and thin-gap RPC chambers for HL-LHC.
  • The data analysis program concentrates on the measurements of the Higgs boson properties and the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model.
  • The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in the muon detector and electronics development and in the coordination of the construction.
  • There will also be opportunities to participate in the ATLAS data analysis and in teaching at the university.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in particle physics and experience with the operation of particle detectors is required.

Applications:

Applications to be sent via E-Mail to schielke@mpp.mpg.de with the following:

  • Application letter
  • CV
  • List of publications
  • Statement of research interests
  • Three letters of recommendation
