Postdoc position in Computational Material Science 1884 views

The Institute of Biomaterial Science at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht Berlin Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT) invite applications for a Postdoc (m/f/d) Computational Material Science with a focus on developing computational models for the description and characterization of macromolecular/polymeric systems (i.e. shape-memory polymers).

Duration: initially a 2-years fixed term contract.

Role and responsibilities:
  • A main focus of the position will be the development of computational models describing the process-structure-function relationship of stimuli-sensitive, multifunctional shape-memory polymer actuator materials on different hierarchical and time levels (multi-scale modelling).

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold a PhD degree and experience in Polymer Physics, Physics, Engineering, Computational Science, or related fields.
  • Candidate to have experience in the application of classical molecular dynamics with related force fields to study complex macromolecular systems, their deformation behaviour and uptake of small molecules like water and a profund knowledge in statistical, continuum and finite element mechanics all documented by a strong academic record.
  • Applicant must have a proven ability in programming in both scripting and compiling code languages and appropriate skills in software engineering using state-of-the-art object-oriented languages.
  • Applicant must be eager to collaborate with chemist, material scientists, biologists, electrical engineers and researchers from other disciplines and to transfer your ideas to applications based research.

How to apply:

Apply by sending following documents electronically (code number 2019/B 11):

  • CV
  • Description of scientific expertise
  • Publication list
  • Copies of credentials (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.) including grades
  • Names and addresses of three academic referees
