Postdoc research position in Nanotechnology at the Notre Dame, United States
The group is seeking a Ph.D to support research projects at the University of Notre Dame in nanotechnology related to single molecule spectroscopy and metamaterial fabrication.
Description:
- The spectroscopy is performed with scanned probe microscope and/or optical tweezers, in conjunction with nanopores through solid-state membranes, for applications in sequencing DNA, protein and single cell analysis.
- Metamaterial fabrication requires considerable skill with diffractive optics and optical trapping.
Requirements:
- The successful applicant must have completed a Ph.D. preferably in physics, biophysics, electrical engineering, bio-engineering or a closely related discipline, with a proven capacity for world-class research that is reflected in a publication record.
- Extensive experience in a subset of the following disciplines is mandatory
Research Areas:
- Atomic force/scanning probe microscopy;
- Free-space laser optics;
- Transmission electron microscopy;
- Micro- and nanofluidics;
- Semiconductor nanofabrication;
- Low-noise,
- Phase-sensitive lock-in measurements;
- Expertise in programming with MATLAB, LABVIEW, C++, Python and Igor; and familiarity with molecular and cell biology.
Further Information: Interested applicants should send a detailed CV, along with a list of publications, and arrange to have at least three (03) letters of recommendation sent via email directly to Prof. Gregory Timp ([email protected]). In the cover letter, delineate specifically how your skills can be applied to the work in this lab.
