Tasks and responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate has a background in magnetic thin films, nanostructures and devices.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing unconventional computing based on the behaviour of arrays of nanomagnets.
  • This will include control of the nanomagnet interactions, observation of the emergent behaviour, and interfacing to electronics.
  • Characterisation will mainly be carried out using lab-based characterisation methods (nanoMOKE, transport, SQUID-VSM), but there is also a possibility to use synchrotron x-ray microscopy at the Swiss Light Source.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must have outstanding qualifications with a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or a related subject, and preferably has experience with unconventional computation using nanomagnets.
