Postdoc in Solar Fuels Catalysis Netherlands 2557 views

Postdoctoral position in photoelectrochemistry is available in heterogeneous catalysis for enthusiastic and motivated chemists / materials / scientists physicists. We seek a highly talented and curiosity-driven candidate with a PhD degree and a strong drive towards innovation and excellence in research. Are you attracted to an exciting job in catalysis research?

The solar-driven production of hydrogen and oxygen from water and sunlight is one of the most fascinating research areas nowadays, and with regard to future energy storage and supply of our society a very crucial one. To arrive at a knowledge-based design of photoelectrochemical energy conversion devices calls for an in depth understanding of the underlying physical and molecular mechanisms. The position is embedded in the gravitation program “Netherlands Center for Multiscale Catalytic Energy Conversion” – an excellence consortium in catalysis between universities Eindhoven, Utrecht, and Twente (visit http://www.mcec-researchcenter.nl/ for more information).

To address this challenge, we are looking for a candidate with a background in chemistry, materials science or physics having a strong interest in heterogeneous (photo)catalysis and photoelectrochemistry. Experience in either lab or synchrotron-based photoelectronspectroscopy is a requirement. The project will be focused on the implementation and application of lab- and synchrotron-based near-ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy to both photoelectrochemical and conventional catalytic systems. A new lab-based near-ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy setup at TU Eindhoven will be central in the project.

Qualifications:

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic PhDs or candidates who will finish their PhD in 2016 in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science. We invite highly motivated students with proven talent for research to apply. Other requirements are excellent analytic and communicative skills. You should have a very good basis in English and we expect you to be a team player.
