Overview

The School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney is currently seeking a Postdoc Associate in Chemistry.

Tasks Involved: 
  1. Conduct synthesis, binding studies and transport studies on receptor systems designed to allow the flow of chloride, bicarbonate and other species through lipid bilayer membrane.
  2. Present research findings at conferences and preparing papers for publication in refereed journals.
  3. Be responsible for administrative tasks relating to project organisation, safety matters and general lab management within the group.
  4. Provide supervision for research students and be a good role model as a senior member of the research group,
  5. Contribute to preparation of grant proposals for research funding.
Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  1. PhD in Chemistry
  2. Experience of synthesis of supramolecular entities
  3. Experience of supramolecular chemistry techniques (e.g. binding/transport assays)
  4. Experience in research record keeping and regular disseminatation of research findings at group meetings and conferences
  5. Experience in writing up results for publications as sole author or in collaboration and contributing to grant proposals
  6. Proven ability in developing novel techniques and investigative research methods as evidenced by a track record of publications in leading general interest chemistry journals (i.e. JACS, Angew. Chem. or higher impact publications)
  7. The capability to analyse complex problems and, drawing from research experience and initiative, develop methodologies and practical approaches to solve them
