The Advanced Nuclear Materials Group at Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow.
Tasks:
- The selected candidate will be studying irradiation-induced effects on materials which are being or are to be utilized in various facilities such as spallation neutron sources, accelerator driven systems (ADS) and next generation nuclear energy devices.
- The selected candidate will conduct mechanical testing to investigate the changes in mechanical properties of materials such as Fe-, Al-, Ti-, Ni-, and W-based alloys after irradiation in the targets of Swiss Spallation Neutron Source (SINQ).
- The selected candidate will also use advanced microstructural analytical techniques to analyze the microstructure of these irradiated materials.
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold a PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Physics with good fundamental knowledge of solid physics and materials sciences.
- Applicant must be a skilled user of different microstructural analytical tools.
- Knowledge and experience of studying radiation effects on structural materials would be desirable.
- The candidate is expected to be friendly, open-minded, creative and highly motivated researcher.
