Postdoctoral in nanopores functionalized with polymer brushes: Chalmers 1456 views

Postdoctoral in nanopores functionalized with polymer brushes: Chalmers: Chalmers University of Technology provides research and education in engineering sciences, architecture, technology-related mathematical sciences, natural and nautical sciences. Chalmers put forwards a cultivating and inspiring working environment in the dynamic city of Gothenburg. Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is the largest department at Chalmers with research ranging from the most fundamental level to a level close to application in industry and society.  Chalmers offering a postdoctoral Full-time temporary employment position for 2 years to conduct research with solid state nanopores functionalized with polymer brushes.

About the Position: There already exists several methods for studying single cells and individual DNA molecules, but there is a lack for reliable and non-invasive methods for studying single proteins. Although the discovery of single proteins is possible through optical means, there is a need for better ways to entrap single proteins simply to prevent them from diffusing away during a measurement. The aim of this project is to develop a new type of platform for studies of individual proteins based on using nanostructures in solid state materials functionalized with responsive polymer brushes. This project also connects topics such as nanofabrication technologies, polymerization reactions, supramolecular chemistry, biochemistry, optical spectroscopy and fluorescence techniques.
