Postdoctoral position (2 years) in Ecology 2360 views

The Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Umeå University is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher in ecology that will work with the importance of climate and herbivory for vegetation composition in the Arctic in time and space. The project is a part of the international Biodiversa project called “Future ArcTic Ecosystems (FATE)”. The position is expected to start February 1, 2020 or according to agreement.

About the Project:
  • This project will investigate contemporary effects of herbivore populations and climate change on Arctic vegetation and, in collaboration with other researcher in FATE, provide that in a form that can be used for interpreting the drivers of past ecosystem changes.
  • The postdoc is expected to conduct fieldwork, analyse data and write scientific papers within the subject of the project presented above.
  • The position is full time for two years.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a PhD in Ecology or a related field.
  • Candidate should have completed doctoral degree a maximum of three (3) years before the end of the application period, unless special circumstances exist.
  • A highly creative and highly motivated person with a strong publication record, strong statistical modelling skills, and good oral and written communication skills in English would have an advantage.
  • Candidate should be able to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Prior experience of working with effects of herbivores on vegetation, Arctic ecosystems or climate niche modelling is regarded as merits.
