The Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in the High-Energy Astrophysics. The overall theme of the project is the study of the emission process in gamma-ray bursts in conjunction with high energy neutrinos. This theoretically oriented work shall combine the existing observational constraints on the prompt emission mechanism of gamma-ray bursts with the neutrino upper limits from IceCube. Researchers with experience in high-energy astrophysics or astro-particle physics are encouraged to apply.
About the position:
- The position is funded through the German Science Foundation’s recently extended Collaborative Research Centre 1258 on “Neutrinos and Dark Matter in Astro- and Particle Physics”.
- The position is available starting July 1st, 2021 and will be for 2 years, with the possibility of extension to 3.5 years.
Applications:
Apply online and should submit the following documents (in English, and in PDF form):
- CV
- List of publications
- Brief (~1 page) description of research interests
- Three letters of reference to be sent to Jochen Greiner to jcg@mpe.mpg.de
