Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in Biological Physics for the independent research group “Theory of Biological Fluids” headed by Dr. David Zwicker.
About the research:
- The research group “Theory of Biological Fluids” focuses on understanding how biological organisms organize fluid-like material.
- The successful candidate will develop a theory for phase separation of (visco-) elastic matter.
- The goal is a description of the dynamics of droplets forming in an elastic gel as well as the formation of gel-like droplets in a liquid solvent.
Requirements:
- Applicant must be excellent, enthusiastic and self-motivated researchers with good communication skills to join the research team.
- Applicant must hold PhD in Theoretical Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field and a solid background as well as interest in biological and soft matter physics.
- Expertise in elasticity theory and/or the theory of phase separation are a plus. Programming skills are highly desirable.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English is required. The researcher should show eagerness to learn new skills and apply established ones.
Duration: limited to two years with the possibility of extension
Applications:
Apply online with the reference no MPIDS-W025 and submit the following:
- a motivation letter
- a CV
- a list of publications
- contacts of two referees
