The Max Planck Institute for Physics (MPP) is inviting postdoctoral candidates for a position with in Postdoctoral COSINUS. COSINUS is a new experiment for the direct detection of dark matter based on cryogenic calorimeters using Sodium Iodide (NaI) scintillating crystals. The selected candidate will contribute to the software development of data acquisition and data analysis. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the planned installation of the experimental setup at LNGS.
Requirements:
- Candidate is expected to have a solid background in astroparticle physics, data analysis and software development.
- Experience with cryogenic calorimeters and rare event searches will be advantageous.
- Candidate is expected to take a major role in detector commissioning and data analysis including, in particular, triggering and energy reconstruction and event selection.
- Candidates must hold or be near completion of a PhD in experimental physics at the time of recruitment.
Applications:
Application to be sent including a CV, list of publications and a statement of research interest and three recommendation letters as PDF via email to dwerner@mpp.mpg.de.
