The School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a 12 month position, 0.8 FTE at the rank of Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF). The position may be extended by mutual agreement and funding availability. Salary will be $45,000.00 per year.
About the research:
- The Men’s Health Research (MHR) Program is a team of researchers and community partners advancing studies and interventions to reduce male depression and suicide, improve psychosocial prostate cancer outcomes and advance smoking cessation in fathers.
- The successful candidate will have a background in qualitative research and health intervention design as well as experience in online communication environments.
- The PDF will lead secondary analyses of photovoice interview data drawn from men and women who have lived experience of suicidality and/or suicide bereavement, and interviews with men who have prostate cancer and experience mental health challenges.
- The focus will be on writing empirical peer reviewed journal articles to share the findings and make recommendations for adjusting a suite of men’s health interventions. The PDF will lead the drafting of peer reviewed manuscripts in collaboration with MHR investigators.
- The anticipated start date is June 1, 2020.
Qualifications:
- Completed (within the last 5 years) or near completion (with a confirmed defense date) of a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Gender, Public Health, Visual Arts, Health Sciences)
- Research record demonstrating qualitative research expertise congruent with career stage
- Demonstrated familiarity with and interest in men’s health topics
- Experience managing others and project management
