Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemistry Grade 7 at the University of Liverpool

The candidate will perform advanced research in flow synthesis and materials chemistry in the group of Dr Anna Slater (EPSRC-Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow and Proleptic Lecturer, Materials Innovation Factory at the THE SLATER GROUP.

Core Areas

  1. organic synthesis;
  2. flow chemistry and/or chemical engineering
  3. supramolecular chemistry
  4. analytical science, particularly mass spectrometry and/or UPLC
  5. chromatography method development

It is envisaged that you might also bring new research areas that complement existing core strengths.

EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS

  1. PhD in preferably Chemistry or Materials Science
  2. Higher education in the synthesis of organic supramolecular materials
  3. Excellent publication record
  4. Experience in supervision of junior colleagues or students
  5. Experience in developing equipment for synthesis or analysis


Experience and Skills
 

Specific capabilities in at least 3 of the following areas:

  1. Flow chemistry
  2. Molecular synthesis including design of synthetic routes
  3. Preparation of organic crystalline solids
  4. Method development for mass spectrometry
  5. Use and maintenance of analytical equipment
  6. Use and method development for chromatography (e.g. LC, GC)
  7. Generation and interpretation of analytical data (e.g. NMR, MS)
  8. Preparation and characterisation   of supramolecular complexes or systems
  9. Project management skills
