Postdoctoral Researcher (3 positions): Open Data Science 1107 views

The Data Science Institute at National University of Ireland Galway (NUI) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for three full-time fixed term positions as Postdoctoral Researchers. These positions are funded by the Horizon 2020 Polifonia, Interreg NPA Emergreen and Interreg NWE Sharepair projects and are available from March 1st 2021 to contract end date of February 28th 2022.

Responsibilities (including but are not limited to):
  • Conducting research on topics relevant to the Data and Knowledge Engineering unit of the Data Science Institute
  • Lead the delivery of project deliverables
  • Participate in relevant project activities internally and in collaboration with the broader international consortium
  • Support the team in the Data and Knowledge Engineering unit of the Data Science Institute in activities related to obtaining research grants, supervising junior researchers and managing research

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must hold PhD in Computer Science or related fields
  • Experience in contributing to research projects and teams
  • A demonstrated ability to work on basic and applied research problems
  • A clear ability to conduct and publish excellent research in top-ranked conferences and journals
  • Excellent problem-solving, data-analytical and programming skills
  • Candidates are expected to demonstrate that they: have strong knowledge and expertise in the state of the art in open data science; have a proven track record of research performance, including through publications in top-ranked conferences and journals; have a strong experience in implementing and demonstrating research results through highly functioning research prototypes; have a strong experience in successfully contributing to collaborative research projects; have excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and scientific writing skills, and a sense of passion and ambition in addressing research challenges.
