Developmental Genetics, RIKEN: Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Associate position [BIMS-1617] at the Laboratory for Developmental Genetics, RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (Group Director: Haruhiko Koseki)

Research Area

The Group is pursuing a research program to explain –

  1. The epigenetic regulation of organ development and stem cell functions, by Polycomb group (PcG) proteins,& DNA methylation mechanisms.
  2. Operates the animal facility affiliated to Yokohama Institute required for cryopreservation and generation of genetic resources, and the human iPS cell facility.
  3. Developing new technologies- based on adoptive antitumor immunotherapy- for clinical intervention of cancers, using iPS (induced pluripotent stem) derived NKT (natural killer T) cells (iPS-NKT cells)

Core Research Subjects:

  1. Regulation of large scale chromatin structures by Polycomb proteins
  2. Chromatin dynamics associated with activation of Polycomb-repressed genes
  3. Development of antitumor immunotherapy using iPS-NKT cells

Required Qualification

  1. For a Research Associate

Master’s degree holder in fields indicated in the Job description, or equivalent abilities. Should also have a strong desire to earn a PhD, and a strong motivation for further research.

PhD holder in immunology, microbiology or related biological fields including physiology,

  1. For a both positions

Successful candidates will have a proven research track-record, and proficiency in English. Experience in working with mice is required. International exposure and fellowships/grants obtained are a plus.

 Terms of contract

For a Research Associate

  1. One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable based on evaluation.

For a Postdoctoral Researcher

  1. One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable based on evaluation, up to the end of the fiscal year exceeding 3 years since the initial date of hire.
