The University of Luxembourg (UL) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Energy Technology (M/F). The position is available in the research team Applied Thermodynamics, carries out applied research in energy technology and fluid dynamic code development (Ref : F1-080009).
Duration: 12 months’ fixed-term contract (extension possible up to five years)
Starting date: 1st January 2020
Role and responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to perform the following tasks:
- Investigating challenging issues related thermal energy conversion system, Energy Efficiency Analysis and Energy Storage Systems
- Developing novel techniques/algorithms to address some of the identified critical issues
- Disseminating results through scientific publications and conferences
- Coordinating research projects and preparing project deliverables
- Preparing new research proposals to attract industrial, national and European projects
- Providing assistance in the supervision of PhD students
Requirements:
- A PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
- Sound publication track record in the areas related to Energy Technology
- Knowledge of one or multiple areas listed below is highly desirable: Thermal Power Plant Designs with various fuel types; Energy storage; Power to X
- Experience with optimization and/or machine learning tools
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python or C++ is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
