Postdoctoral researcher in Organic Chemistry 1400 views

The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), as part of an ANR project (SmartNanoCoat: Rational Design of New Structurally Controlled Polyfunctional Polymers for Surface Wrapping of Inorganic Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications) is inviting applications for a 12-month postdoctoral researcher position in organic chemistry.

About the project:
  • This project, which ranges from chemical synthesis of polymers to preliminary in vivo evaluations, focuses on the molecular engineering of peptide polymers for the surface dressing of gold nanobits for biomedical applications.
  • The candidate will integrate, at ICSN, a group of the Department of Chemobiology composed of 3 permanent researchers. For nanoparticle aspects, the work will be done at the Research Institute of Chemistry Paris (IRCP).

Expected Starting Date: May 1, 2019

Role and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be in charge of the synthesis and characterization of:

  • Amino acids modified in solution (NMR / LC-MS characterization)
  • Solid support multi-anchor peptide ligands (SPPS) (LC-MS / Maldi characterizations)
  • gold nanobistons in solution (UV-Vis / TEM characterization)
  • After preparation and characterization of the new ligands, the candidate will evaluate / optimize them on the gold nanobistons (UV-Vis characterizations / TEM / XPS / QCM / AFM) in biological media and in cells.
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for writing the laboratory notebooks / reports / publications.
  • The candidate must have solid experience in organic chemistry but will also have to adapt to the multidisciplinary nature of the project.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold PhD in Organic Chemistry and research skills that have resulted in at least one publication as first / second author.
  • Candidate must have strong knowledge in organic synthesis, with a good knowledge of peptide synthesis and willing to work at the interface between chemistry / biology / materials for biomedical applications.
  • An interdisciplinary profile, especially with expertise in peptide chemistry, nanoparticles and surfaces will be appreciated.
  • The candidate must have organizational skills and a very positive attitude to work in a team on multidisciplinary projects while respecting the rules and procedures.
  • Applicant must speak English fluently (and ideally also French).
