The Faculty of Science, Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences at University of Amsterdam (UvA) seeking a postdoctoral researcher for an ambitious project on the important plant pathogen Xanthomonas campestris.
About the project:
- In this interdisciplinary project, aim to unveil the underpinning process that results in reduced disease susceptibility.
- This genetics project will be executed in close collaboration with a PhD candidate and industry.
- The candidate will be embedded in a team that aims to provide breeding solutions for devastating plant diseases by studying the underpinning virulence mechanisms at the molecular level using state-of-the-art technologies.
Requirements:
- A recent PhD degree in the field of plant-microbe interactions with one or more publications as first author in a peer-reviewed scientific journal (IF >4);
- Preferentially, skilled in plant genetics (crossing, mapping populations, EMS) and big data analysis including Bioinformatics scripting in Phyton, R studio or related;
- Hands-on experience in and affinity with molecular biology (Gibson assembly, Goldengate, Gateway cloning strategies, CRISPR-Cas strategies, synthetic biology, plant transformations);
- An enthusiasm and willingness to become multidisciplinary with a keen eye on functional plant gene studies (including protein work);
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with proven in experience in writing scientific papers / grants.
