University of Bern invites applications at the Institute of Virology and Immunology for a Postdoctoral Scientist.
About the position:
- Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infection during early childhood worldwide with no satisfactory options for prevention/treatment.
- The aim of the project is to clarify the role of non-respiratory cells during RSV pathogenesis and their relevance in chronic infections.
- The project will utilize a wide range of cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques and involves the work with primary cells and in vivo models.
- Selected scholar will be involved in other projects through the collaboration with PhD and master students. For further information about our research activities
Requirements
- Applicant must hold master’s degree in Life Science and a PhD in Immunology or Virology
- Applicant must have good publication record and a strong background in cell biology, cell culture, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.
- Applicant must have evident experience with animal experimentation.
- Applicant must be science-driven, creative and enjoy working independently remaining focused on objectives and results.
- Applicant must possess excellent communication and writing skills in English and a good knowledge of German.
Duration: 2 years’; possibility of renewal
