Postgraduate (PhD, MD, M.Sc by research) admissions are open at The School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, University of Bristol. This school is an globally recognized centre of brilliance for the study of Cancer Biology, Infection and Immunology and Stem Cell Biology.

Postgraduate Staff research areas include the following: Childhood and adult cancers, stem cell biology, molecular genetics, developmental biology, haematological disorders, immunology, arthritis, neurological diseases, virology, bacterial antibiotic resistance, bacterial pathogenesis.

The school places its focal point on translational research, that is: rotating basic scientific discoveries into something clinically helpful. Key successes of this type comprise the investigation of new drugs and therapies, diagnostic tests and the implementation of changes to clinical practice. Quite a lot of members of staff in the school are clinicians.

A major renovation of immunology, microbiology, virology, stem cell biology and cancer research labs has created an exceptional working atmosphere with state-of-the-art amenities. Scholars in the School also have entrée to facilities in the Molecular Recognition Centre and the Cell Imaging and Wolfson Bio-imaging Facility within the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences.

PhD: 3-4 years full-time; max. 7 years part-time

MD: 2 years full-time; 4 years part-time

M.Sc: 1 year full-time; 2years part-
