Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Department of Environmental Geochemical Cycle Research Group, Research and Development Center for Global Change (RCGC).

About the position:
  • Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher position focusing on a project titled Estimations of methane emissions using GOSAT/GOSAT-2 and surface observation data (FY2018–2020)
  • Principal Investigator is Prabir K. Patra”
  • This is a sub-theme of the project, Estimation and Refinement of Regional-Global Methane Emissions Using GOSAT-2 and Surface Observations supported by Ministry of Environment, of Japan.
  • Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to the project, a Postdoctoral Researcher should be able to independently conduct the research subject which is authorized by the Project under direction of a leader, and to be appointed intend to improve his/her research qualities.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must hold or expected to hold PhD in a related field by the date of employment. In addition, no more than 5 years may have passed between the last day of the fiscal year in which the applicants obtained a Ph.D. and the date of employment.
  • Applicant can be of any nationality and either gender.

Duration: September 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019.

  • List of competitive research funds awarded to the applicant (1 copy).

  • A letter of recommendation from a senior research scientist.
  • All the required documents must be sent by POST or E-mail and should reach JAMSTEC on or before the closing date.
