The Department of Engineering at Swansea University  is inviting applications for a position of Research Assistant for the project AFM2 – Application of Functionalised Micro & Nano Materials – scale up to volume production.

Essential criteria:
  • A Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Evidence of the ability to engage in and contribute to writing and publishing research papers, particularly for refereed journals.
  • A demonstrable ability to conduct research in line with the aims of the project
  • Evidence of planning skills to contribute to the research project
  • A knowledge of screen printing
  • A knowledge of ink formulation and manufacture
  • A demonstrable understanding of shear rheology of complex multi-phase fluids
  • Experience of working on site with industry
  • A commitment to continuous professional development

Desirable Criteria:

  • PhD or equivalent in engineering or related subject relevant to printing
  • Driving licence
  • Knowledge of advanced rheology, specifically SAOS and CSPS
  • Knowledge of all volume printing processes
