Research Fellow in Advanced Wireless Communications 953 views

The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at University of Surrey has a Research Fellow positions in Advanced Wireless Communications. This exciting opportunity will undertake research in advanced Physical layer algorithms for support of Terabits per second communication that includes but not limited to, Massive MIMO detection and precoding, Machine learning aided detection and modulation, Channel coding and Modulation schemes and diversity schemes.

About the position:
  • The focus of the work is mainly on Physical layer algorithms for both transmitter and receiver for multi-user communications. The research is carried out using a combination of computer simulations and mathematical analysis for frequencies above 5GHz all the way to TeraHertz.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must PhD degree (or equivalent) or close to completing a PhD degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics or other areas related to RF/Microwave Engineering.
  • Postdoctoral research or industrial experience would be an advantage.
  • Expertise in large-scale MIMO detection and precoding, distributed massive-MIMO architecture and backhaul design, beamforming optimisation and selection
  • Expertise in deep learning for wireless modem design including deep learning algorithm development and FPGA implementation
  • Expertise in MATLAB, Python (TensorFlow) and C programming for deep learning
  • Strong expertise in signal processing for wireless communication systems (especially modulation/waveform design)
  • Expertise in large-scale MIMO detection and precoding, distributed massive-MIMO architecture and backhaul design, beamforming optimisation and selection
  • Expertise in deep learning for wireless modem design including deep learning algorithm development and FPGA implementation
  • Strong expertise in signal processing for wireless communication systems
  • Very good understanding of new trends in the field like multiuser Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems, beamforming methods, and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) systems
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills
