Research Scientist in Isotope Biogeochemistry (six years) at the University of Basel.

Position: Research Scientist position (non-tenure track) in the Aquatic and Stable Isotope.

About the Department: Biogeochemistry working group of the Department of Environmental Sciences (Prof. Dr. M. Lehmann).

Requirements:

  1. A PhD degree is required
  2. Highly motivated candidates, preferably with at least two years of postdoc experience in stable isotope geochemistry and biogeochemical cycling of elements in aquatic systems (marine and freshwater).
  3. Potential candidates with expertise in combining isotopic (natural abundance, isotope enrichment, and/or compound-specific/biomarker) geochemical & molecular approaches to study element cycles in pelagic and/or benthic environments on different spatial/temporal scales, and with interest to integrate experimental and field research are particularly encouraged to apply.
  4. A background in nitrogen isotope biogeochemistry is not a requirement, but will be an asset.
  5. The successful candidate is expected to initiate his/her own research projects,
  6. Join ongoing and planned multidisciplinary projects in the broader fields of stable isotope biogeochemistry.
  7. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the teaching activities at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
