The RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science is inviting applications for a Research Scientist or a Postdoctoral Researcher at Plant Genomic Network Research Team under the guidance of the Team Leader Motoaki Seki.

About the research:
  • The team is analyzing novel epigenetic, RNA and peptide regulation mechanisms in environmental stress adaptation and acclimation by cutting-edge genomic approaches.
  • The aim is to develop useful plant resources, such as stress-tolerant plants by use of chemical compounds etc.
  • The team is analyzing regulatory networks of tuber root development in cassava by integrated omics analyses and aim to develop useful cassava plants, such as improved plant productivity.
  • The selected candidate will engage in the research project: RIKEN-AIST Joint Research Fund “Challenging world food problems by the use of ethanol”.
  • In this project, the work will to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of ethanol-mediated heat and drought tolerance and develop the technologies to enhance the stress tolerance in crops (lettuce, wheat and tomato).
  • Project duration: From Sep. 2019 to Mar. 2022.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant should possess a doctoral degree in a related field. Postdoctoral Researcher must hold a doctoral degree of 5 years or less.
  • Candidate should have research experiences and knowledge in the field of molecular biology.
  • Applicant must be able to engage in the research in a coordinated manner.
  • Applicant is required to smoothly communicate with other collaborators in and out of our laboratory, and cooperate with them.
  • It is desirable that the applicant has interests in the environmental stress adaptation / tolerance mechanism of plants and can advance the above research with high motivation.
