Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) invites applications for a Researcher/Scientist position in Analytical chemistry/Radiochemistry-Speciation of trace elements and radionuclides. The position is funded by CERAD CoE

Duration: 1 year position; with possible extension

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Characterize radioactive particles with respect to composition, particle size distribution, structure and oxidation state of the carrying matrices, using 2D and 3D techniques
  • Link the particle characteristics to specific sources
  • Link particle characteristics to weathering rates utilizing defined extracting agents
  • Utilize separation techniques for quantifying exotic radionuclides such as transuranics.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have obtained PhD degree or equivalent qualifications in Radioecology, Nuclear Chemistry, Nuclear Physics, Material Sciences.
  • Applicant must have experience in working with ionizing radiation or radionuclides as well as with solid state speciation techniques (SEM, synchrotron- radiation based techniques, X-ray).
  • Applicant must possess good knowledge of the English language (both written and oral).
  • Applicant must demonstrate good communication skills, both related to research and presentations in general.

Selection criteria:

  • Competence with respect to ionizing radiation or radionuclides
  • Experience with advanced technologies (X-ray or synchrotron radiation based techniques)
  • Competence with respect to radiochemical separations
