Scientific Software Developer position at University of Basel: Basel is a city university (oldest university in Switzerland) with international flair (bordering France and Germany). sciCORE is the center for scientific computing at the University of Basel and one of the technological platforms of SIB – Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. The University of Basel invited application from eligible candidates with excellent collaborative skills and experience working in an academic environment for Scientific Software Developer position for 2 years, with the possibility for extension at University of Basel.
About position: Selected candidates will be responsible to support and further develop the website of the sciCORE facility, which includes a series of interactive services for users. They will work closely in collaboration with researchers at University of Basel to design, implement, and maintain new and existing scientific applications.
Positions: Scientific Software Developer
Educational qualifications: Interested candidates must have a master’s degree in computer sciences, computational life sciences, bioinformatics or equivalent with Capability to multi-task with accuracy and reliability and a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. They must have Experience in the JavaScript programming language, Python programming language, Back-End and Front-End applications development, Python backend frameworks (e.g. Django, Flask) and version control systems (Git). Candidates having Experience in SQL databases, familiarity with NoSQL databases will be preferred.
