Scientist-I (Research and Development): NDDB
NDDB offers an excellent learning environment with considerable freedom for creative and innovative activities. We are looking for a young and energetic Scientist for Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF) laboratory.

Overview
Development of new test methodologies, verification, validation, project writing, conducting proficiency testing, stability studies, preparation of Analytical R&D projects, establishing control samples/SRM, accreditation and maintenance of facility as per ISO 17043 and ISO 17034 for dairy and dairy products, food and agriculture products.
Key roles and Responsibility
- Development of new methodologies / verification regulated with the compositional, contaminants, adulterants and other parameters for food safety by using advanced analytical techniques like mass spectrometry, chromatography, IRMS etc.
- Writing of scientific project with clear objective, timeline, financial measures, documentation, submission, presentation, approval, timely completion and closure.
- Setting up a proficiency testing facility for dairy, food and agriculture products, covering all technical aspects and work for its accreditation.
- Ensure proper calculations & data transfer in a systematic manner for PT evaluation and maintaining high level of confidentiality and integrity in this work.
- Carrying our stability, homogeneity studies on the samples.
- Carrying our statistical analysis of data / report preparation, addressing client complaints for the PT / SRM and control sample work.
- Marketing proficiency testing products / control samples / SRM to the target industry and make the project self-sustainable.
- Data monitoring, integrity, ensuring accuracy interpretation of data & timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Coordination for procurement of required equipment / infrastructure and its installation and timely calibration.
- Perform and supervision of analytical work of Trainee /Technician.
- Proper handling and maintenance of sophisticated equipment. Usage & proper storage of CRM/SRM.
- Ensure good housekeeping and maintain required environmental conditions for storage of samples / control samples.
- Estimate Measurement of Uncertainty for control and SRM samples.
- Carrying out analytical operations as per requirement of ISO 17025, ISO 17043 and ISO 17034. Responsible for scope enhancement and meeting accreditation requirement.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements.
- Prepare required Standard Operating Procedures & Work Instructions.
- Assist in budgeting, costing and inventory control.
- Liaising with regulatory, academic institutions and accreditation bodies
- Train junior analysts and handle their career development program in consultation with Section Head.
- Any other relevant work assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications
The incumbent should be PhD in any field of Chemistry / Food Science / Food Technology/ Bio Analytical Science / Agricultural Chemistry with exposure/ working knowledge in analysis of food / milk samples and method development evident in PhD work / Masters work.
The candidate should preferably have at least two research publication in journal of repute from its PhD work / other research projects undertaken.

Duration: The position is on a fixed term employment for a period of 5 years which is renewable.
