Scientists Recruitment at DRDO and associated Labs: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence is in pursuit of self-reliance in critical technologies relevant to national security, DRDO formulates and executes programs of scientific research, design, development, testing & evaluation of various systems, subsystems, devices & products required for defence of the nation.

Position Type: The organization employs highly qualified and competent scientists and technologists who constitute the Group `A’ (Class I Gazetted) known as Defence Research and Development Service (DRDS). The pay scales of the DRDS Scientists are as given below:

Benefits:

  1. In addition to the Basic Pay(Pay in Pay Band plus Grade Pay) DRDS scientists are also entitled to get House Rent Allowance (HRA) upto 30% of Basic Pay in case of non-availability of Government accommodation
  2. Other allowances viz, DA, Transport Allowance with DA on it etc. as admissible.
  3. Performance Related Incentive Scheme (PRIS) is also applicable.
  4. As per recommendations of the 6th CPC DRDO has implemented the PRIS by way of granting variable increments to meritorious scientists on their promotion to next higher grade based on their performance in the lower grade.
  5. DRDO not only offers employment but also lays emphasis on Human Resource Development. Therfore, DRDO trains its personnel at it’s own training institutions in Pune and Mussourie and also at prestigious academic institutions like, IITs, IISc Bangalore etc. for acquiring higher educational qualifications.
  6. Opportunities also arise for foreign deputations for training/presentation of papers/specific assignments.
