Valneva is looking for a Senior Scientist (Vaccine development) based in Nantes, France. The Senior Scientist will be leading a small team within the Research department . He or she will be working within a network of other senior scientists within Valneva’s R&D organization to discover new vaccine candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading a lab team within the discovery and innovation group with a focus on molecular biology and the design and generation of novel vaccine candidates
- Execution of innovative research activities conducted both in-house and in collaboration with academic partners
- Critical review, evaluation and documentation of new vaccine candidates, concepts, innovative technologies and vaccine projects
- Scientific input for all discovery-related research activities
- Design, development, and implementation of new technologies and methods that can be used to discover or improve (new) vaccine candidates
- Scientific support of existing vaccine projects
- Translation of pioneering ideas and concepts into clear-cut proposals
Support of grant applications, manuscripts and presentations Profile
PhD in Molecular Biology or (Vaccine development) related discipline with at least 3 years post-PhD experience (ideally in the field of vaccinology)
Experience in Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry beneficial
Scientific track record evidenced by respective achievements including publications + Managerial experience, excellent motivator
- Excellent communication skills

- Strong background and hands-on experience in molecular biology in the field of immunology and infectious disease
- Proven analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
- Well-organized and able to handle multiple activities simultaneously
- Familiar with project management processes
- Fluent in English
- French is a plus
- Contract Permanent contract, position based in Nantes, France.
