Department of Science & Technology invites nominations for the award of SERB Distinguished Fellowship. This fellowship is granted to few highly commendable retired resident Indian scientists/academicians who are active and have proven track record of outstanding scientific and technological achievements.

Eligibility:
  • The nominee should be a retired but very active Indian resident scientist or academician who is associated with any recognized Indian laboratory or institute or university with proven track record of exceptional contributions in any one or more areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, during the last 10 years, including continued excellent research output in the last 05 years.
  • The nominee must have received recognition for his/her work from national or international scientific bodies such as membership in these prestigious academies.

Grant value:

  • Research grant- Rs.5.0 lakhs/annum
  • Fellowship- Rs.60, 000/month
  • The grant can be used for manpower, equipment, travel (including international), and contingency.

Duration: initially for 3 years; extendable for another 2 years

Who can nominate?

  • Past and Present Presidents of any of the national science academies (including engineering, agriculture and medicine), Directors of National Laboratories, Vice-Chancellors of Universities, and members of Science and Engineering Research Board.
