Simons-NCBS/ iTHEMS-RIKEN: Joint Postdoctoral Fellowship 1564 views

The Simons Centre for study of Living Machines, National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and Interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences Program, RIKEN, Japan (iTHEMS) announces the Simons-NCBS / iTHEMS-RIKEN Joint Postdoctoral Fellowship (Simons-NCBS/ iTHEMS-RIKEN PDF) program.

Duration:

2 year joint postdoctoral fellowship; may be extended for one-year durations up to a maximum of four years (annual review and renewal).

Fellowship value:
  • Basic salary: Rs.90,000 p.m. (subject to tax)
  • iTHEMS, RIKEN will provide housing fee and daily allowance to the fellow to cover costs of living for the duration of their stay in Japan for the project.
Eligibility:
  • Applicant must not have more than 4 years of postdoctoral research experience.
  • Applicant must be capable of contributing to the unique collaboration between the participating institutes in the field of theoretical biology and be sponsored by a local host who is a member of Simons-NCBS/iTHEMS, RIKEN Faculty.
Pre-applications process:
  • Applicant must directly apply to the participating PIs of the joint projects.
  • Application package must include the following: latest CV; PDF versions of 1-3 first-author publications; at least 2 letters of references (e-mailed directly to the participating PIs)
Timelines:
  • Joint Projects from PIs accepted throughout the year.
  • Deadline for sending the final application by the nominated candidates to academic office (acadoffice@ncbs.res.in) is 15th March 2018.
  • Decisions about the short-listed candidate will be announced within 2 weeks after this deadline.
  • Short-listed candidates will have to present their research proposal and will be interviewed by the panel in NCBS, Bangalore or in RIKEN, Japan in the second week of April 2018. Decisions will be announced within 2 weeks of the interviews.
