SLU: Postdoc position on genomic adaptation in fish: The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) develops the understanding and sustainable use and management of biological natural resources. SLU – Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden invited application for filling up the Postdoc position on genomic adaptation in fish available within Prof. Anti Vasemägi research group at the Institute of Freshwater Research, Department of Aquatic Resources, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences to work with molecular ecology and population genomics of aquatic organisms. The research with Vasemägi group focuses on understanding the relationships between genotype and phenotype, genetic basis of adaptation and how contemporary natural- and human-induced selection works on ecological time-scales.

About the Positions: This postdoctoral position focuses on genomics of parasitic disease in salmonid fish and/or molecular mechanisms of humic substance-driven (darkwater) adaptation in perch. Selected candidates will carry out bioinformatic analysis of next-generation sequencing data (RADseq, WGS, CNV), population genetic analyses and laboratory work.

Salary: According to agreement.

Duration: Temporary employment, 12 months, with possible extension

Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have PhD in bioinformatics, evolutionary biology, genomics with strong background in next generation sequencing data analysis, transcriptomics, population genomics and/or host-parasite interactions as demonstrated by publications in relevant fields. Candidates must be proficient in written and oral English and have excellent communication skills.
