Start-up Grants: Doctoral Program: Literary Studies 1040 views

The Doctoral Program in Literary Studies of the University of Basel calls for applications for one one-year start-up grant. These grants are planned to make a contribution to the recipient’s cost of living while they develop a PhD project in the area of literary studies.

Grant value: CHF 30,000; to be paid in 2 installments, after evaluation

Requirements:

• Applicant must be highly motivated with the skills to carry out a research project independently over the course of several years as an active member of the Doctoral Program in Literary Studies,
• Applicant must be able to contribute to academic debates both within and outside the Doctoral Program.
• Applicant must be graduate who hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in one or several philologies, and who are interested in carrying out research within the fields of study represented in the Doctoral Program (Literary Studies)

• Motivation Letter
• CV with the list of publications (if applicable)
• Short description of the dissertation project (max. 6 pages)
• Degree certificate (MA degree or equivalent)
• One or two text samples (including master thesis or equivalent, not more than 30 pages)
• Recommendation Letter

Note:

• Applications can be submitted in German, French, or English.
• Applicants who are about to complete their studies can apply, provided that they can submit an official graduation certificate no later than 26th of January 2017.
• Applications from PhD students already registered at other institutions or from candidates who already have a Doctorate degree will not be considered.
• Holders of a start-up grant must enroll as Doctorate student at the University of Basel.
