Postgraduate by Research Scholarship (PGR Scholarship) is aimed to encourage good scholars who wish to pursue Masters or PhD research degree programmes offered by Sunway University.

Selected candidates are eligible for the following sholarships and support.

Eligibility

Applicants with the following conditions may apply for scholarship:

Atleast Upper 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent at undergraduate level is the minimum requirement in a relevant discipline;
Show the potential to successfully complete the proposed programme of study ; and
Show a good academic track record

Selection Criteria

Assessment of the candidates nomination for the programme, subject to the approval of the Postgraduate Scholarship Committee (PGSC), is based on the following criteria:

Eligibility of the applicant;
The applicants qualifications, potential and motivation to pursue the programme;
The candidate’s research experience to undertake the research work;
Annual budget allotted for the scheme;
Applicant’s performance in interview.

How to apply

Initially candidates must apply for admission in a PhD by Research degree programme at Sunway University, and upon their acceptance only the candidate must apply for the scholarship by submitting the ‘Scholarship for Sunway University Research Degrees Form’ to the faculty.
The Head of Department in which the candidate shall be registered must review and forward the application to the Dean. With the support of the Dean, the application form will then be forwarded to the Provost’s Office.
The Provost’s Office will check the applicant’s admissibility in line with section stated eligibility criteria.
Applications will be forwarded to the PGSC for review and assessment.
