Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships: Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships

Each year, in order to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships.

The research scholarship is available to post-graduate researchers. The research can be done in any discipline. It is open for applicants:

• who hold a master’s degree as a minimum qualification or
• Who plan to come to Switzerland with the aim of pursuing research or further studies at doctoral or post-doctoral level

Scholarship can be taken:  at one of the 10 Swiss cantonal universities which constitutes of the 2 Swiss federal institutes of technology or public teaching and research institutes.

Level of study: Doctoral or Postdoctoral Studies or Research

Field of study: any discipline

Nationality: Students from around 180 countries are eligible. The website should be visited for the full list.

Scholarship Details: The scholarship provides:

• a monthly payment
• exemption of tuition fees
• health insurance
• air fare
• housing allowance etc. as applicable

Application Deadline: The application deadline falls between September-December, depending on the Swiss Embassy to which the applications have to be submitted. Next call is expected to open in August.
