The Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and the American Physical Society (APS) invites applications for APS-IUSSTF Physics PhD Student and Postdoc Visitation Program Professorship/Lectureship Awards.
APS-IUSSTF Physics PhD Student & Postdoc Visitation program:
- The program provides travel funds to students and postdocs who wish to pursue opportunities in physics in India and the U.S.
- The awards are sponsored by IUSSTF and administered through APS.
- This program is intended for physics Ph.D. students and postdocs who wish to pursue opportunities in physics such as summer institutes or to work temporarily in a laboratory.
- Awards are in the amount of $3,000.
- Up to 4 awards are given every year.
Proposal Procedures:
- The proposals must be submitted by PhD students or postdocs in coordination with their advisor/supervisor and the hosting professor/advisor at the host institution (max 10 pages) and must include:
- A joint proposal (1-2 pages) from the applicant, their advisor (in the case of PhD students) or supervisor (in the case of postdocs), and the hosting professor/advisor at the host institution. The proposal must include a general overview, objectives, and anticipated outcomes of the visit.
- Letters of support for the proposal from the applicant’s advisor or supervisor as well as the host.
- A schedule of activities for the duration of the visit (max two pages)
- A budget for the requested funds (max two pages)
- A brief, current CV for both the PhD student or postdoc and the host (maximum 2 pages)

APS-IUSSTF Professorship/Lectureship Awards in Physics
- The awards permit physicists from India and the United States to deliver short courses or a lecture series in the other country.
- Professorships/Lectureships consist of one- to two-week courses or a lecture series delivered at Indian or U.S. institutions by physicists from the other country.
- Up to 4 awardees are selected each year.
- Awards are for up to $4,000.
Proposal Procedures:
- Applicants must submit a joint proposal from the proposed visitor and their counterpart/collaborator from the host institution (max 7 pages) and must include the following:
- Overview & objectives (1 page)
- Schedule of activities (delivered lectures/short courses, etc.) for the duration of the visit;
- Budget for requested funds;
- Anticipated outcomes of the visit (max 1 page)
- A brief, current CV from both the visitor and host (maximum 2 pages for each c.v.)
- A letter of endorsement for the proposal from a representative (i.e., Chair, Dean, HoD) of the physics department from the host institution.
