UPSC: Scientist B (Junior Geophysicist), 3 positions 2561 views

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites applications for the post of Scientist ‘B’ (Junior Geophysicist). The position is available under Ministry of Water Resources River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation at Central Ground Water Board.

Remuneration: As per 7th CPC, Level-10 (Rs.56100-177500/-) in the Pay Matrix. (Total Emoluments excluding T.A. and HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs.56100/- plus D.A. as applicable per month approximately).

Age limit: Not exceeding 35 years for General category candidates. Not exceeding 40 years for ST candidates (relaxable for regularly appointed Central Government Servant upto five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India)

Essential Qualifications 

Educational

  • Master’s degree in Physics / Applied Physics / Radio Physics and Electronics / Geophysics / Applied Geophysics / Geology / Applied Geology from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Candidate holding a Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology should have had Physics as one of the subjects at the Bachelor of Science Degree examination of a recognized University or equivalent.

Experience

  • 3 years’ research and / or practical experience in the electronics aspects of Geophysical Instrumentation and repairs of such instruments OR
  • 3 years’ experience in the actual conduct and interpretation of Geophysical Survey work, particularly with reference to ground water.
