A PhD position is available in Van der Waals Heterostructure Devices project at DTU Nanotech. The project will be carried out in within the European project Graphene Flagship and the Centre for Nanostructured Graphene.
Duration: 3 years
Responsibilities and tasks
- Fabrication of clean, high performance graphene and TMD devices and optimization of contact resistance, gate quality and room temperature performance.
- Fabricate working prototypes of ballistic switches, transistors and/or optoelectronic devices, and characterising their properties
- Electrical characterization and comparison with theoretical predictions at room and cryogenic temperatures
- Effects of nanopatterning and device processing on electrical characteristics
- Scaling up of van der Waals assembly method.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must have a master’s degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree in engineering.
- Applicant must be strong in experimental physics, creative, and fast-learning, independent, hard-working and be team worker.
- Past performance will also be considered in relevant courses (solid state physics, quantum mechanics, transport theory, computational physics, electronics, materials science).
Supervision:
- Project will be co-supervised by Prof. Kristian Thygesen, DTU Physics & Asst. Prof. Nicolas Stenger, DTU Fotonik.
