WHRI-ACADEMY International Fellowship Program

The William Harvey International Translational Research Academy (WHRI-ACADEMY) is a new international mobility fellowship program which aims to offer multidisciplinary projects to transnational researchers to help to maximize their career development opportunities in healthcare and Life Sciences. WHRI-ACADEMY offers 55 new post-doc fellowships spread between three different schemes (incoming, outgoing and reintegration) and a training programme, including workshops, dedicated training in complementary skills and industrial placement.

Three types of transnational mobility fellowships (Incoming, Outgoing, and Reintegration) are offered.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Letter of Commitment must be included in the application. The letter must be signed by both the legal authorized person and the Scientist-in-Charge of the chosen Host organization. But, Letters of Commitment signed only by the Scientist-in-Charge are also eligible.
  • Research project must be carried out by the Applicant in only one Host organization. Combining Host organizations is not allowed.
  • Placements or a visit within the WHRI-ACADEMY network and to outside institutions is possible.
  • The applicant must apply in one of the institutions that are registered in the WHRI-ACADEMY International Fellowship Program.

 Subject Areas:

Following Seven research areas are considered:

  1. Molecular and Structural Biology and Biochemistry
  2. Physiology, Pathophysiology, including Cardiovascular diseases and Endocrinology
  3. Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics and Systems Biology
  4. Cellular and Developmental Biology
  5. Neurosciences and Neural Disorders
  6. Immunity and Infection
  7. Diagnostic Tools, Therapies and Public Health

The duration of the fellowships must be:

  • For INCOMING: a min. of 12 months and max. of 24 months.
  • For REINTEGRATION: a min. of 12 months and a max. of 24 months.
