APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PURSUING BASIC SCIENCE COURSES
AND CAREER IN RESEARCH
The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (7 5000/- ?7000/- p.m.) and contingency grant (equivalent to four months fellowship per annum) to students studying in 1″year of basic science course such as B.Sc./B.S./B.StaUB.Math./lnt. M.Sc/M.S. Selection to the program takes into account academic excellence and skills to take up research career in Basic Sciences.
- Eligibility for Stream SA: Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2015-16 and have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Board examination. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./ Int. M.Sc/M.S.) in the academic year 2017-18 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in the XII Standard/(+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel and other related expenses will be met by KVPY.
- Eligibility for Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard / (+2) (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2015-16 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./ Int. M.Sc/M.S.) for the session 2016-17 during the academic year having secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination and should have secured minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard/(+2) Board Examination.
- Eligibility for Stream SB: Students enrolled in the 1* yearof B. Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc/M.S. during the academic year 2015-16 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% forSC/ST&PWD)marksinaggregateinSCIENCEsubjectsinthe XII Standard/(+2) Board Examination and 1*yearofB.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./lnt.M.Sc./M.S.
- Empowerment initiative in the KVPY Fellowship Program
- For students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): A certain number of fellowships exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students under the various streams as stated above will be operated.
- Empowerment initiative for Persons With Disabilities: A certain number of fellowships under various streams as stated above will be operated for deserving Persons With Disabilities-Physically and Visually challenged students.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Students holding PIO, OCI card and students intending to pursue/pursuing undergraduate program under distance education scheme are not eligible.
Students have to apply Online clearly indicating the stream (i.e. SA/SX/SB).
APPLICATION FEE: Online Payment: For General category ^1000/- (Rupees one thousand only)
plus KVAT @ 5.5% and ?500/- (Rupeesfive hundred only) plus KVAT @ 5.5% for Students belonging to
SC/ST and Persons With Disabilities – (Physically and Visually challenged students).
A computer based Online version of the Aptitude Test will be conducted in Metro and other selected
cities. Offline (hard copy) based Aptitude Test will also be available in some selected cities.
A Mock Test of KVPY Aptitude Test for Online mode of examination is also available for the benefit of

- Caste certificate issued and duly signed by the competent authority (GOI) in the prescribed proforma in the case of students belonging to SC/ST.
- Medical certificate from the prescribed authority (GOI) in case of Physically and Visually challenged students certifying the percentage of Disability.
- Copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s), Scanned Photo & Signature.
